OUR MISSION

Our mission is to address the disadvantage and exclusion young refugees, asylum-seekers, and migrants face through creative and community-building activities.

Our workshops support young people to build confidence and self-esteem, improve their mental health, and develop the tools they need to express themselves better.

This, in turn, reduces feelings of isolation.

Our aims

Our Aims

  1. Young people gain confidence

  2. Young people improve their skills in different art forms

  3. Young people gain a sense of community and feel less isolated

By helping young people from refugee backgrounds to build connections with cultural institutions and people in British society, we support their integration into life in the UK.

For many of our participants, being part of Babylon Migrants Project also provides routes into creative careers or opportunities to work with young people.

Hope is an art

After facing chaotic and often traumatic journeys to the UK, young people seeking asylum are kept isolated from society whilst their asylum claims are being processed—a process that takes 19 months on average.

Forced to live in temporary, unsuitable accommodation, these young, unaccompanied children are left to survive on less than £9 a week.

This prevents asylum seekers and refugees from being able to integrate into communities.

The uncertainty, loneliness, and lack of community these young people feel directly impacts their mental health and ability to thrive in the UK.

Initiatives to address this must meaningfully involve refugees and asylum seekers.
