OUR HUBS

Through our hubs in London and Stoke-on-Trent, we provide a space of community, sanctuary, and joy for those who need it most.

Our bimonthly workshops in our two hubs are led by creative facilitators often from migrant backgrounds. Whether you’re interested in joining as a participant, or keen to facilitate yourself, we have a wide range of exciting and creative workshops, from public speaking to photography!

The workshops have been incredibly helpful for me. They’re improved my English and given me more confidence in communicating. I’ve also made some wonderful friends and learnt new skills that I use daily. Thank you for organising such valuable sessions.

London hub

Our London hub provides a safe and welcoming space where participants can connect with peers, express themselves through creative arts, and build supportive relationships.

Many of our participants are in the UK alone, without family or support networks, and live in temporary accommodation such as hostels or hotels. Each workshop includes a shared hot meal and regular opportunities to explore London’s cultural venues and public spaces, from which many of our participants are often excluded.

“Participating in Babylon greatly alleviated my stress and provided me with the safe space I had been searching for. It was within this supportive community that I found the encouragement I needed to step outside my comfort zone.”

Stoke-on-Trent hub

Since January 2025, we have been running our free workshops for young people from refugees, asylum seeking and migrant backgrounds in Stoke-on-Trent!

Many of the young people we support are dealing with the effects of trauma, displacement and uncertainty. Without safe spaces to express themselves, build confidence, or develop supportive relationships, their mental health can deteriorate further. We provide a safe space for participants to express themselves, make friends, and build self-esteem.

“My life was so lonely before joining Babylon. Life is very challenging for a young person seeking asylum in the UK. Financially, morally and psychologically - due to restrictions in working and the absence of family.”

“Babylon workshops have improved my wellbeing out of boredom and loneliness through interaction with people and engaging in new skills. I feel confident and enthusiastic, and I have learned new skills.”

LEAP Programme: providing opportunities for growth

There is a lack of representation of people with lived experience in leadership roles within the refugee sector. Our community members are keen to gain transferable skills and progress into employment, but lack the pathways to do so.

Our LEAP Programme trains and supports young people from refugee and asylum seeking backgrounds to facilitate workshops for external audiences, including other charities like the Refugee Council and the Red Cross!

“I found the programme a very welcoming and inclusive space where we were treated with respect and were supported. Because of the environment you created, it was very easy to get along with everyone and connect with them.”
